Happiness allows us to become familiar with and understand our environment, the outside world, and people and things around us.
Pain allows us to become familiar with and understand ourselves.
Fun deludes the mind.

Ha ha. Well said.
But I am not sure if I agree with you on Fun. I guess it doesn't delude the mind. It just kind of momentarily dilutes our intellectual consciousness.
or perhaps it is there to remind us of the oppisite. and under the right condictions help us to imagine ,al-be-it poorly, what pure joy might be like. an unheard of gift today. "that those who have ears may hear"
